Ondo poll: Court May Nullify Aketi’s Victory as Tinubu shuns reconciliation

The candidature of the governorship candidate of the APC, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu (Aketi), may soon hit a rock as a federal high court judge, Justice Dimgba, has decided to nullify his victory.

Justice Dimgba is one of the judges arrested by the DSS recently and he has vowed to punish APC and its cohort for
the embarrassment, intimidation and harassment that he suffered in the hands of the DSS.

This development is coming just as a national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has shunned all the reconciliatory moves instituted by Mr. Akeredolu and the state chapter of the party led by Mr. Isaac Kekemeke.

Tinubu’s media office had questioned how Aketi planned to pacify Tinubu after he had been humiliated by him (Aketi) and some APC governors and ministers in the Southwest.

The media office noted that reconciliation is very late at this stage especially when Tinubu is fully aware that the choice of Akeredolu was just a plot to break his political structure in the Southwest before the 2019 general elections.

“We don’t argue in court and still be friends. These people had thrown the first stone so we will see to it that the court cancels Aketi’s victory. If his victory is nullified, it will be late for the party to do another primary election and this will make APC not to participate in the election.

“How can they say Tinubu who was the person that built the APC on the rock is no longer relevant? The only option now is the court. For Aketi to fly the party’s flag, the APC will not be part of the November 26 governorship election” a top member of the media office told Nigerian Concord.

In a suit challenging the outcome of the primary election, instituted by Olusegun Abraham, the
runner up asked the court to nullify the election because it was fraudulent, non compliance with APC guideline and the electoral act.

Abraham is asking the court to uphold the recommendations of the Appeal panel that recommended the nullification of the said fraudulent primary election.

Unfortunately, the case is before Justice Dimgba who has vowed to punish APC and its cohort for the embarrassment, intimidation and harassment
in hand of DSS.

Though, Rotimi Akeredolu has been evading service of court summon, the court has granted Olusegun Abraham a substituted service on Akeredolu.

The presidency has instructed the Chief Judge of Federal High Court to withdraw the case from Justice Dimgba, but sources said the Judiciary has vowed to pay APC back in its own coin.
