Benue PDP Uncovers APC Spy At Party Secretariat

The Benue state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday unveiled an agent of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Hon. David Kumbul. The opposition party said he tried to infiltrate its Executive Members.

According to members of the PDP that were present when the incident happened in Makurdi, the state capital, Hon. Kumbul was reportedly planted by the ruling APC to run for an executive position in the forthcoming State Congress of the party in Makurdi.

They told Nigerian Concord that luck ran out on Hon. David Kumbul who has been aspiring to occupy the position of State Assistant Financial Secretary at the forthcoming congresses of the opposition PDP when he was discovered with an APC support emblem hanging in his car at the venue of the sitting of the Fact Finding and Harmonization Committee of the party.

Bemgba Iortyom, a member of the PDP Rescue Committee said: “Hon. Kumbul, a former chairmanship aspirant in Kwande Local Government Area, had gone to appear before the committee, armed with a petition opposing the consensus choice of Hon. Terna Mpen for the position.

“But the former chairmanship aspirant might have possibly forgotten to remove the APC Support emblem hanging in his car, a Toyota Camry, and it was discovered by vigilant PDP faithful at the sitting, forcing the suspected APC agent to hurriedly sneak out of the place, with his car later driven out and handed over to him.

“There have been rumours making the rounds that the ruling APC in the state is actively plotting to plant its agents to win and hold executive committee positions in the opposition PDP, with the intent to undermine the opposition party and weaken it at subsequent elections”
