NSCDC Nabs Filling Station Operators In Akure Over Illegal Diversion Of Fuel
The Nigeria Security & Civil Defence Corps, Ondo state command has arrested an NNPC branded tanker with Registration number FST 309 XR for diverting 11000 litres of premium motor spirit (PMS).
The tanker was caught by the officers of the command when discharging 11000 litres of PMS at Satabest filling station located along Ijoka road, Akure, Ondo state capital.
As at the time the tanker was caught, it has already discharged about 11000 litres of the product in the filling station and it was discovered that the 22000 litres of the product had been discharged in an undisclosed filling station earlier which is still under investigation.
The state commandant of the corps, Mr. Adeyinka Fasiu, ordered that the petrol be sold to the member of public at the official pump price of N86 per litre. The ordered was immediately carried out by the men of the corps to the delight of the public.
Commandant Adeyinka said the way bill of the product didn’t specify the location where the product was meant for, which showed that the product is suspected to have been diverted.
The commandant warned independent marketers that still involve in such sharp practices to desist from such illegality as officers and men of the command are on the high alert to fish them out and bring them to book.
He charged the good people of the state to furnish the corps with timely information that will help to stop all these sharp practices in the state.
He also enjoined the member of the public to inform the corps and the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) about any petrol station still selling above official pump price of N86.
He said they are the one making member of the public to cast aspersions on the present government for not being sensitive to the plight of the masses.
