NANS Slams Buhari, DSS Over Invasion Of Ekiti Assembly

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on Wednesday blasted President Mohammad Buhari and the leadership of the Department of State Security (DSS) over the recent invasion of the Ekiti State House of Assembly by security operatives.
Reacting through a press text delivered by Comrade Famuyibo Oluwasegun, NANS Deputy Senate President, the students association said it received the sad news of the security agency invading the Ekiti State House Of Assembly.
The press text continued that the news was sad not only because of the arrest made, but for the disrespect the DSSS displayed against the House of Assembly Chamber.
Saying that it was imperative to note that in as much as NANS was concerned about the well being of Nigerians regardless of the class and status, the association said it also wished to affirm that it condemn the sudden disappearance of some lawmakers in Ekiti state without any official invitation or prior invite as the case may be.
“Furthermore, we believe that DSSS are cog numeration of professionals, as such invading the House of Assembly is not the best way to make necessary arrest.
“The DSSS should have invite their suspects honorably and such arrest can be made after the refusal of such person to honour the invitation.
“We are also aware that the DSSS has suddenly turned tools in the hands of the Federal Government, this development is not only barbaric but also a threat to the security of lives and properties of our beloved citizens
“While we feel that the DSSS will as a matter of urgency retrace their steps and work according to the Nature of their work, we also implore the Federal Government to cob this un warrant abuse of security of Nigerian citizens” the statement, a copy which was obtained by Nigerian Concord reads in parts.
