Press Release: Benue PDP condemns Wombo’s comments on Ortom-led govt, 2023 polls

Nigerian Concord Newspaper

Benue State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) read views in the media credited to a defeated candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the House of Representatives seat in the Katsina-Ala/Ukum/Logo Federal Constituency, Solomon Wombo, in which he described the administration of His Excellency, Governor Samuel Ortom as “…a misrule” and opined that his party will “…take advantage of the situation in the state and clinch power in 2023.”

The defeated APC man who once served as Adviser to the Governor of Benue State on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the administration of Governor Gabriel Suswam also postulated that his party in the state under the leadership of Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, George Akume, is strategising towards the power take-over and even referred to decampings which according to him reflect that Benue people are tired of PDP.

From the views expressed by Solomon Wombo in this press outing it is evident he is underfed on facts and grossly malnourished in reality, reasons for which Benue PDP helpfully serve him a diet of facts as follows;

Firstly, no one of Sankera origins who has the interest of the area at heart will find the voice with which to cast aspersion on Governor Samuel Ortom, for the fact of the tireless and ingenious efforts he has deployed towards the de-militialisation of the area and restoration of peace there.

The fact that Solomon Wombo can today excitedly boast of going home to play politics is solid proof of the success of the Ortom administration in restoring peace and security to Sankera.

This the governor has been able to achieve through the carrot-and-stick approach involving the amnesty programme, the ban on use of motorcycles, “Duck-nyash” cars and other local counter-insurgency measures devised and deployed with the active partnership of local council administrations in the area.

Secondly, PDP in Benue find as laughable talk of Akume strategising to get APC in a shape to wrest power in the state come 2023, since even the Buhari Minister’s most fanatical supporters are aware their leader has steered them into a shipwreck worse than the Titanic, with himself desperately clinging onto a lifeboat of an APC National Chairmanship hoping against hope that it takes him through the shark infested waters of APC cabalistic power politics in Abuja.

Only a desperate Akume fanatic, which sadly Solomon Wombo appears to be, who is in dire need of the opium of self deceit to escape, even if momentarily, from the woes of political decline, will go public thumping his chest in such laughable fashion over the fortunes of a party which have steadily declined since Governor Ortom left it in 2018.

From Solomon Wombo’s Sankera all across the state there have been massive decampings, but they have been of APC leaders and supporters moving in droves into the shelter, security and stability flourishing in the umbrella of the PDP under the firm, visionary and all-embracing leadership of His Excellency, Governor Samuel Ortom.

Solomon Wombo is hereby advised to come to grip with reality rather than running away from it and cut his losses by taking the path most wise former Akume followers have since taken, which is return to PDP and find rest.
