Second Class traditional rulers from the 14 local government areas of Tiv extraction have condemned in strong terms the Abuja press conference by the Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Senator George Akume and his allies against Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State.

They made the condemnation last Tuesday during a solidarity visit on the Governor at the Benue Peoples House Makurdi.

Spokesperson for the traditional rulers, Chief Daniel Abomtse, condemned the call by Senator Akume for the dissolution of democratically elected government in Benue State or the truncation of same under any guise.

He stated that the traditional rulers have been privy to the processes that brought about the law prohibiting open grazing and establishment of ranches that brought on board the Livestock Guards to ensure its implementation.

According to the traditional rulers, the Livestock Guards are ill-equipped and wished they would have been well armed to the level of Civilian Joint Taskforce in Borno and Omotekun in the Southwest, stressing that their operations will augment the security need of the state.

They stated that any attempt to dismantle the Livestock Guards or any action that would impede their operations will render the ranching law totally ineffective and irrelevant.
