‘Why Beninese Police released Sunday Igboho’
Nigerian Concord Newspaper
Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho, was released by the authorities of the Federal Republic of Benin because the Extradition Treaty of 1984 between Togo, Nigeria, Ghana and Republic of Benin excluded political fugitives.
It also states that where the fugitive will not get justice because of discrimination and/or undue delay in prosecution the host country should not release the fugitive.
Sunday Igboho is a political fugitive so he is excluded from the Extradition arrangement between Nigeria and Benin Republic.
While in detention, Sunday Igboho was able to prove that he won’t get justice in Nigeria so the Beninese government refused request from the Federal Government to extradite him to Nigeria.
