Benue PDP cautions APC on media terrorism against Gov. Ortom

The Benue state chapter of the APC has cautioned the state chapter of APC against its persistent media terrorism against the state governor, Dr. Samuel Ortom.
The PDP expressed its displeasure through a press statement signed by its state publicity secretary, Mr. Bemgba Iortyom.
The statement reads: “The tactics of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against the administration of Governor Samuel Ortom in Benue State have spilled out of the acceptable conventional order expected of the opposition in a democracy.
“The APC in Benue has resorted to what should be condemned as ‘Media Terrorism’ in their quest to injure and undermine to the worst possible levels the image of the state before the outside world.
“This, we are aware, is in reaction to the higher performance levels being attained by the Ortom administration going into the governor’s second term of office.
“We have it on good authority that leaders of the APC in the state met recently at the Abuja residence of their Leader who is a cabinet Minister and directed the party’s media handlers to paint Benue in the worst possible colours publicly.
“Their argument at the meeting was that the practical fruitful impact on the people resulting from the numerous capital projects being executed by the Ortom administration, coupled with an increasing positive profiling of the governor in the media, will further endear him and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to the people.
“It was, therefore, the decision of those at the meeting that their party’s media handlers invade the media space with real and fictitious images of roads in the state depicted as ugly as possible to besmirch the rising public profile of the governor.
“The ongoing crusade in the social media to showcase streets in the urban centres of Benue State which are yet to be built is a response of the Benue APC media handlers to the directives of their party’s leaders against the Ortom administration.
“Evidence of the opposition party’s mischief became glaring where its Acting State Publicity Secretary, James Ornguga, posted photos of a primary school purporting it to be in a particular location in the state, yet the same photos were posted by another APC media hand as being in a different location.
“PDP as a party accepts that Benue, like every other state, has its development challenges which date back to its very origins, but the Ortom administration, under the control of the party, is posting enhanced quality delivery of governance across all sectors of the economy, and this is despite dwindling resources available to governments all over the world, occasioned by Covid-19-induced global economic downturn.
“APC’s ongoing crusade to make Benue ugly by posting photos of untarred streets only adds to their list of failed voodoo tactics against Governor Ortom which so far include, “federal might”, “Airforce Base Collation Centre”, “Failed Impeachment of the Governor”, “Shoor At Sight Order Against Electoral Offenders”, “Deployment of a Dozen Deputy Inspectors General of Police As Election Monitors”, “Inconclusive/Supplementary Election”.
“Governor Samuel Ortom and our great party, PDP, beat APC fair and square in Benue State in 2019 to win a sweeping popular mandate, which, with God and Benue people on our side, we will deliver against ongoing acts of media terrorism represented in the bid to make Benue ugly by the opposition party”
