The Governorship ambition of Barrister Eyitayo Jegede received massive supports yesterday as the people of Ondo state trooped out en masse at the MKO Abiola Democracy Park, Akure to identify with the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

This followed the massive rejection of the Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu-led administration by the majority of the market women in Akure, the Ondo state capital.

Also at the Flag off ceremony, the governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Tambuwal, who was among the speakers at the event exposed the fresh rigging plan being made by the All Progressives Congress, APC, to ensure that its candidate, Governor Akeredolu, wins at all costs.

The large turn out of the people of Ondo state across the state indicates the supports which the PDP Governorship candidate, Barrister Eyitayo Jegede, will enjoy during the October 10 governorship election.

Apart from party loyalists, leaders and political office holders across Nigeria who were at the event, various religion and ethnic groups also joined the people of Ondo state to say: “Enough is enough to the government of Father, Mother and Child headed by Governor Akeredolu”

Some of the groups are the Hausa community, Igbo community, Ebira Community and the Tiv speaking communities in Ondo state.

Religion groups at the flag off included the Christians, Muslim and traditional worshippers.

Speaking at the event, Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal, urged the people of Ondo state not to allow the APC to steal their mandates during the October 10 governorship election in the state.

Tambuwal said the recent burning of the INEC office In Akure as well as the Card Readers planned to be used for the October 10 governorship election was to perfect APC rigging plans during the election.

The Sokoto governor disclosed that fresh card readers that are going to be brought from Osun and Ekiti states are going to be manipulated by the APC, urging the Ondo state people not to allow that to happen by voting for Jegede and staying till their votes are counted.

In his speech, Oyo state governor and Chairman of the Ondo PDP Governorship Election Council, Engineer Seyi Makinde, urged the people of the state to resist every attempt by the APC to rob the PDP of its victory at the October 10 governorship election.

He added that the people should not feel Intimidated by attacks and verbal threats by the ruling party in the state, stressing that no amount of threats can change the will of the electorates who have already determined to change the bad change brought upon them by Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

He however called the security agencies in the country not to be partisan during the election. He said they should ensure that election malpractices are prevented during the poll so as not to bring a war that will terminate the democracy which Nigeria has been enjoying.

He also urged the Federal government to ensure that INEC conducts a free, fair and credible Governorship election in Ondo state.

Makinde however faulted the campaign point of the APC that the electorates should reelect Akeredolu so the presidency can rotate to the South West in 2023.

According to the Oyo state governor, people of Ondo state do not need to vote anyone for presidency to rotate to the Southwest in 2023. He said rather, the people should elect Barrister Eyitayo Jegede so that Ondo state can be part of the state that will bring positive change to Nigeria.

Also speaking, the PDP candidate, Barrister Jegede, begged the people of Ondo state to vote for him and as well defend their votes so that the APC will not alter their wish to bring a better governance to the state.

Saying that he is unstoppable, Eyitayo Jegede maintained that his emergence as the candidate of the PDP was designed by God to liberate the people of Ondo state.

Others who spoke at the event, Otunba Oyewole Fasawe, PDP national chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, Engineer Segun Oni, Senators Abiodun Olujimi, Ayo Akinyelure, Nicolas Tofowomo, Barrister Sola Ebiseeni, Otunba Omolade Oluwateru, Rt. Hon. Adedayo Omolade, Engineer Clement Faboyede, the state party chairman, Alhaji Fatai, national Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, National Woman Leader, National Youth Leader and several others all sought for the supports of Ondo state voters come October 10.

They stated it that the emergence of Eyitayo Jegede will terminate the autocratic rule of Arakunrin Akeredolu who has been ruling the state with his family since 2017.

They urged the people not to allow the enemies of their progress use money to buy the future of their children and that of their unborn generation during the election.

They warned the people of Ondo state to shine their faces so they will not fall into the APC’s deceit for the second time.

They stressed that the APC promised that they were bringing a positive change when they were coming to power but the party brought hardship instead.

They faulted Governor Akeredolu for increasing tuition fees in tertiary schools and as well made health care a thing which the masses can no longer afford in the state.

They however promised that Eyitayo Jegede will return the tuition fees back to what it was before, adding that health care, good roads and gainful employment will be ensured if the PDP candidate is elected as governor on October 10.

Meanwhile, some groups of market women in the state while reacting at the flag off said that they are tired of the autocratic government of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

They vowed to use their votes to truncate the second term ambition of the governor at all cost.

They however promised to join hands with all other sectors in the state to ensure that Barrister Eyitayo Jegede is elected as the next governor of Ondo state during the forthcoming October 10 governorship election.
