Gana’ murder: How APC leaders bribed Sahara Reporters to implicate Suswam ahead of 2023
Nigerian Concord Newspaper
Facts have emerged on how leaders of the APC in Benue state paid the publisher of Sahara Reporters, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, a sum of N12 million to pin the gruesome murder of the state’s deadliest militant, Terwase Akwaza (Gana) on a former governor of the state, Senator Gabriel Torwua.
Recall that some military personnels had on Tuesday seized Gana who was on his way from Katsina -Ala to Makurdi where a fresh amnesty was to be granted him and his gang members by Governor Samuel Ortom.
Also recall that the military personnels shortly after the arrest of Gana issued a statement that he was killed during a gun battle.
Meanwhile, to discredit Gabriel Suswam who represents Zone A at the Senate ahead of 2023, some Benue APC leaders yesterday morning met at the Abuja residence of one of the party’s top leader from Benue (Name withheld) to plan a media attack on the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Power.
A reliable source who was privy to details of the meeting which lasted for about 36 minutes, said that it was agreed that Sahara Reporters be used to publish a misleading report which will link the murder to Gabriel Suswam and some top military officers in the country.
At the meeting, according to our source who does not want to be mentioned for security reasons, the publisher of the Online newspaper, Omoyele Sowore, was called over the phone and a deal was sealed to go ahead with the publication that, it was the former governor that asked the military personnels to kill Gana so as to avoid the release of some vital information about him (Suswam)
The source said: “Our leaders In Benue are fond of making false allegations against themselves at all times. Instead of them to find a way to arrest this situation of Gana which is on ground, they are looking for ways to politicize it.
“I can confirm the meeting to you, and a sum of N12 million was made available to Omoyele to publish the report where he was asked to put the murder on Suswam. Remember that it was this same Sahara Reporters man that was used to blackmail a certain judge who was handling the former governor’s case in 2016.
“It was even at the meeting that it was agreed that the Sahara Reporters man should add it in his report that it was a military source that gave him the information that it was Suswam that arranged for Gana to be killed. To even make the story real, they asked Omoyele to also add it in his report that Gana was also having secrets of some military top officers before he was killed.
“They are trying to also link some military officers with Gana’s murder so that the aspect of Suswam will be real to the public”
Meanwhile, Nigerian Concord Newspaper contacted the media unit of the Nigerian Army to find out if truly those military personnels killed Gana on Suswam’s request and to as well cover the secrets of some of their top officers but a source at the department who will not want to be mentioned faulted the report from Sahara Reporters.
The source said the report was published to bring the Nigerian Army to disrepute.
