Tor Shimbe to LG bosses: Prioritize projects with positive impacts on people
The Honorable Special Adviser, Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Elder (Amb.) Jerome Tor Shimbe, has charged Council Chairmen in the State to prioritize projects that have direct positive impact on the people in their respective areas.
Ambassador Tor Shimbe gave this charge at the reception in honor of the newly sworn in Chairman of Gwer West local Government Council, Mrs. Grace Igbabon, held at the Local Government Secretariat in Naka yesterday.
He also assured of his resolve to create an enabling environment for the Chairmen to effect rapid development of their respective areas and reminded them to strictly adhere to the tenets of the Governor Samuel Ortom led administration which is anchored on probity, accountability, dedication to duty, selfless service and the fear of God.
He particularly called on the Gwer West Local Government Chairman, Mrs. Igbabon, to renovate the Staff and Chairman’s Quarters as well as the Local Government Guest House to enable her reside in the headquarters and be accessible to the people, while also urging her to improve on the sanitary conditions of the area and appealed to the people to be patient and rally round the Chairmen to enable them succeed.
Elder Jerome Tor Shimbe applauded the unanimous decision of the Tyoshin people to have considered the Ikyaghev people for the position of Chairman for the first time since the creation of the Local Government, noting their patience and sacrifice to ensure the existence of the Local Government area.
Responding, newly sworn in Chairman for Gwer West Local Government, Mrs Grace Igbabon, assured of her resolve and commitment to deploy her motherly disposition in order to ensure a rapid turnaround of the fortunes of the area and thanked Governor Samuel Ortom and the people of Gwer West for trusting her with the mandate and promised to justify the confidence reposed in her.
