Benue State Urban Not Responsible For Demolitions In Makurdi, says Gbilekaa

The General Manager, Benue State Urban Development Board, Makurdi, Apostle ( Dr) Saint Gbilekaa Abrahams has distanced his agency from the demolitions that took place in Logo 1, behind Mid-Way Inn and Kusa settlement in Genabe layout yesterday, Wednesday May 13,2020.

Gbilekaa while reacting to claims by some members of the public claimed that his organization was responsible for the demolition exercises stated that the Agency was not party to the two demolition exercises.

He said that even though, his organization was unaware of the demolition exercises, he had visited the two areas to have first hand information on what transpired.

He explained that when he got wind of those developments, he swiftly moved to Kusa, Genabe settlement in Adeke layout with some of the field staff to confirm the authenticity of the allegation.

He added that based on information he personally gathered from residents of both Logo 1 and Kusa settlement, the two demolitions were carried out by individuals who secured court judgements in their favour.

Gbilekaa revealed that the demolition exercise at Kusa settlement in Genabe was carried out by the Achaku family based on information obtained from the Chairman of Kusa, Genabe settlement, Mr. Justine Ioryue.

The General Manager while speaking with newsmen in his office also hinted that the demolition exercise at Logo 1, behind Midway Inn, Makurdi was carried out by the family of Hir Gyuse in compliance with the judgement of a Makurdi High Court delivered in 2013.

He stressed that the land tussle at Logo 1, was between the family of Hir Gyuse from Vandeikya and some Landlords in the area.

Gbilekaa urged the Benue public to disregard the falsehood linking the Benue State Urban Development Board with the two demolition exercises carried out within Makurdi metropolis and maintained that the Board equally has legitimate powers to carry out demolition exercise when the need arises.
