The Governor of Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ortom, has released the sum of twenty two million naira (22, 000,000.00) to get the challenging issue of water in Makurdi to be fixed.

This was made known by the State Commissioner of Water Resources, Engr. Dondo Ahile, during the inspection of work ongoing in Makurdi to repair and fix the obsolete and damaged pipe lines that militates against the supply of water in Makurdi township.

According to Ahile, the Makurdi residents will no longer buy water from “Miruwa” again as from the next two weeks.

During the inspection, the Commissioner expressed displeasure on how Makurdi residents are used to illegal connection of water from the main line directly to the treatment plan.

According to him, the line is mainly to supply water to the heavy tanks and also to the distribution lines where residents are eligible to connect water.

In his speech, Ahile promised that the issue of water challenge in Makurdi will soon be a thing of the past.

He however advised traders who are building their containers on the water pipelines and its joints to remove such structures as they are causing destructions to the pipelines.
