Osinbajo, Ojema laud Ortom on empowerment as Benue Opens ultra modern innovation centre, constitutes sports committee

The wife of the Vice President, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, has applauded the state Government under the leadership of Governor Samuel Ortom for the ultra modern enterprise development and innovation hub for the teaming productive Benue people.

Speaking at the official commissioning of the facility at the weekend in Makurdi, Mrs Osinbajo charged the Benue Youth to maximise the opportunities the center brings forth to them.

This is just as the State Chairman, Joint Public Service Negotiating Council I, II & III (JPSNC), Comrade Ojotu Ojema, has commended Ortom-led government over Stabilization of Salary payment as well as the restoration of incremental rate in January 2019.

Ojema who gave this commendations yesterday at the new Banquet Hall of Benue People’s House Makurdi during a courtesy call on Governor Ortom with his Union Members also lauded the governor for the prompt Promotion of Staff, Directives to BIRS for immediate employment of Benue graduates to boost revenue generation instead of using contractors, disposition to the Joint Council as well as Transparency in Governance.

Ojema who disclosed that the union are aware of the challenges confronting the governor, appealed to him to look into the challenges facing their Union which according to him includes August 2017-December 2017 salary arrears (5 months), Non payment of leave transport Grant (LTG) SIM 2012, Lack of working tools and materials for civil servants, Poor office accommodation/facilities, Training and retraining of staff, Regular meeting with Government officials, implementation of the Benue State Health Insurance Scheme, Casualisation and Lack of adequate manpower.

The Chairman of the Union equally appealed to the governor to implement the 30,000 minimum wage by Federal Government.

Earlier the governor thanked Mr Ojotu Ojema and his team for the visit adding that he will look into the requests presented before him.

Meanwhile, the Benue state Government has built and officially opened for use, an ultra modern enterprise development and innovation hub for the teaming productive Benue people.

The completed and fully equipped Benue Center for Enterprise and Innovation, BENCEDI was last weekend commissioned by the Wife of the Vice President, Mrs ‘Dolapo Osibanjo during her one day visit to Benue state.

The enterprise development and innovation center is to serve as a grooming and training center for various crafts and handwork such as Fashion Designing, Hair Making, Tailoring, Baking, vent Management, ICT, Catering, Shoe Making and general Entrepreneurial Studies.

Meanwhile, Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has constituted a committee to reposition sporting activities in the state to get greater results.

The Governor constituted the committee yesterday after receiving the report of the committee headed by the State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mrs Ladi Isegbe which he set up to draft procedures and operational guidelines for Lobi Stars Football Club, Makurdi.

Governor Ortom stated that the committee, still headed by the Youths and Sports Commissioner is to among other things, make a holistic review of sporting activities in the state and recommend ways of improvement.

He commended the committee for doing a great job, stressing that the report would be deliberated upon in the next Executive Council meeting, at the end of which a white paper would be drawn for implementation towards ensuring effective management of football.

Mrs. Isegbe while presenting the committee’s report, said it recommended that the Board, Management and staff of Lobi Stars should be up to their responsibilities as stated in their guidelines and regulations.

Other recommendations of the committee included efficient and profitable running of the club for its development and progress, encouraging development of home grown talent and the need for a harmonious working relationship.

Deputy Governor, Engr. Benson Abounu also presented a trophy recently won by Lobi Stars Football Club in the ongoing pre-season matches to Governor Samuel Ortom during the report presentation.
