The government of Belarus has invited the governor of Benue state, Mr. Samuel Ortom, to the 29th Belagro International Exhibition in Belarus.
This invitation follows an official visit of the governor to the Belarus Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Vyacheslav Bril, in Abuja few weeks ago.
Recall that during the visit, the Belarus Ambassador promised to support Benue State in expanding the state’s agriculture value chain programmes.
Mr Bril said his country had decided to collaborate with states such as Benue which have high potential in agriculture, in order to build relationships for greater development.
He disclosed that Belarus would soon establish an agricultural equipment assembling plant in Nigeria to offer farmers of the country top quality products.
The Ambassador commended Governor Ortom for addressing issues of security and the attention he has given to agriculture in his state.
However, a statement by Governor Ortom’s CPS, Mr. Terver Akase, stated that he will depart today, 6th and return on 11th June, 2019.
The exhibition is part of partnership arrangements for the development of the agriculture sector and its value chain in Benue State.
Other areas of the collaboration to be explored during the visit include supplies of agriculture machinery and maintenance, as well as training schemes for job creation and youth empowerment.
