Ortom earmarks N3 billion to discredit PDP guber primaries

In spite that workers in Benue state haven’t got their salaries in the last 14 months, the governor of the state, Samuel Ortom, has connieved with some leaders of the APC in the state to discredit the forthcoming governorship election of the opposition PDP in order to ensure that the party doesn’t have a formidable candidate to present for the 2019 governorship election.

This plan according to a Government House reliable and confirmed source was hatched by the governor and his men in conjunction with some politicians that had been planted in the PDP to also seek for the party’s governorship ticket.

Nigerian Concord Newspaper has also gathered that a total sum of N3 billion has been earmarked by the governor to execute the project.

Also, some top APC leaders in the state are said to have also arranged some huge amount of money to support the governor’s plan to make the outcome of the PDP governorship primaries look incredible.

However, our source explained that both Senators George Akume and Barnabas Gemade aren’t part of the plan as the governor who has considered them a great threat to his reelection didn’t carry then along owing to series of advice from his close aides and associates.

The major plan according to our source who was part of the meeting which was held at the government House immediately after the Democracy Day Celebration today is that a huge amount of money will be used to bribe some judges who the aspirants that have been planted in the PDP will run to in order to also lay claim to the party’s (PDP) guber ticket.

“Immediately after the primary in the PDP, some of the aspirants whom I can mention if you are going to protect me will run to some judges that must have been bribed by the governor to claim that the primary isn’t credible.

“The judges will in turn nullify the PDP governorship primaries and as well order INEC not to accept any candidate from the party. This will scatter the PDP which may not be able to get a formidable candidate before the election. It shall also pave way for the governor to go home with victory during the election.

“This had happened in Ondo state before and it worked in favour of Governor Akeredolu who was the candidate of the APC then. In Ondo state, the federal government used Ali Modu Sherrif and Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim to disrupt the PDP, and this made it impossible for the party’s candidate, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, to do enough campaigns before the election.

“You know Jedege’s name finally came out as the authentic flag bearer of the party just two days to the election. That was the arrangement between the APC and Justice Abang including INEC. How would such candidate do a proper campaign? Jimoh Ibrahim whom the APC planted in the PDP to disrupt the party and also lay claims on the party’s governorship ticket was the person that INEC recognized until two days to the election” he said with emphasis.

The source who seems to be aggrieved because he was asked to step down for another aspirant who is favoured by Governor Ortom for one of the House of Assembly seats in the state noted that the governor is making his plans to cause hullabaloo in the PDP because he had realized that he can no longer control Benue electorates.
