Serious fears have gripped the governor of Benue state as his most trusted ally and partner in the looting of Benue Commonwealth who is also his special adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Titus Zam, has decided to join the 2019 governorship contest under the APC.

Nigerian Concord gathered last night that Zam’s decision to drag the APC guber ticket with Governor Ortom was a result of the massive confidence which some of the party leaders had given him.

According to reports, Zam had been told to run for the 2019 guber race as he would be massively favoured by the party’s delegates at the primaries.

Reports claimed that Zam who initially didn’t yield to calls by party leaders to betray his boss, Ortom, has now decided to join the race as a result of his heavy purse as well as the supports being pledged to him by several of Ortom’s loyalists within the party including State chairman Abba Yaro and Senators Akume and Gemade .

Sources said that Abba Yaro has made it known to Zam that he would have his supports and that of other party exco members and chieftains since it is getting clearer by the day that Ortom no longer enjoys the support of Benue electorates as a result of his failure to pay salaries, run a transparent administration, tackle the heavy corruption in his administration, effect rural and urban infrastructure among others.

A source close to Yaro said on telephone that the APC chairman is only deceiving Ortom each time he proclaims his supports to him for his second term.

The state APC chairman was several quoted as saying that Governor Ortom will be the first sitting governor of the state that will lose his second term bid.

It was gathered that Zam’s consultations are said to have gone very high to the extents that he no longer joins his boss, the governor, at public functions.

Meanwhile, Zam has denied any knowledge of the campaign posters through one of his media assistants but information gathered within his camp said that the denial was just a political gimmick to brainwash the governor into believing that he is still loyal.
