A Public Complaints Commissioner, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, has berated the manner at which relief materials meant for the IDPs in Benue State are being diverted by officials in charge.
Tsav, a former Lagos state police commissioner and Benue elder statesman who expressed his displeasure over the issue in a media note said: “It’s a matter of grave concern and brazen inhumanity for BENUE OFFICIALS charged with the responsibility of receiving and sharing relief materials to victims of the recent flood to divert the relief materials to themselves and their relations”
He added that the act shows how selfish, uncaring and dishonest these Benue state officials are.
“Unfortunately, this act will portray us to other Nigerians and the world at large, as bad, dishonest and uncaring people.
“It also shows that people in Benue State are desperate and suffering, but that should be no excuse” he stressed.
Tsav urged that those found culpable for these mean and ungodly acts should be adequately punished and disgraced.
