Appeal Victory: Suswam, Moro, Jev, PDP, Reps, Gbilekaa, Tor Shimbe, congratulate Ortom….It’s victory for all, says Ortom

Senators representing Zone A, B and C in Benue state, Senators Gabriel Suswam, Oker Jev and Abba Moro, have congratulated Governor Samuel Ortom on his victory at the Court of Appeal.
The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division today upheld the electoral victory of Samuel Ortom by dismissing the appeal filed by Emmanuel Jime of the APC against the October 7th verdict of the Election Petition Tribunal.
Also, the Benue state PDP, GM of Urban Development, Saint Gbilekaa Abrahams, Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Jerome Tor Shimbe, and some Benue state members at the House of Reps have also hailed the governor’s victory at the Appeal Court.
In a telephone chat with Nigerian Concord this evening, Senator Gabriel hailed the verdict, stressing that it reveals the true positions of Benue people to have a performer like Ortom as their governor.
Suswam who said he is the happiest that his political associate, Ortom, has scaled through all the electoral hurdles before him noted that the people of Benue should be expecting to experience massive developments under the governor especially now that God has put his enemies in shame.
His words: “I had no doubt that Governor Ortom would win at the Appeal Court as a result of the overwhelming supports which he secured during campaigns, elections and rerun”
On his own, Comrade Abba Moro, congratulated Governor Samuel Ortom, the good people of Benue State and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over the Governor’s resounding victory at the Court of Appeal on Thursday.
He noted that he believed that the verdict of the Appellate Court, which upheld the election of Governor Ortom is a testament to the fact that no man can give power except God.
“The Judgment has further confirmed that Governor Samuel Ortom was overwhelmingly voted for by the people of the state during the last governorship election, and cannot be uprooted through the backdoor” he said.
Moro lauded the Judiciary for a sound Judgment, which has further shown that the people of Benue State freely gave Governor Ortom their support in the last election.
He however called on those aggrieved over the outcome of the election and the various courts judgments to bury the past and join hands with Governor Ortom to work for a better Benue.
Meanwhile, Governor Samuel Ortom has said that the judgment of the Court of Appeal on the 2019 Benue State governorship election is victory for the people of the state who gave him a second term mandate.
The Governor stated in a statement by CPS Terver Akase that the Appellate Court verdict has not only validated the earlier judgment of the Governorship Election Tribunal but also confirmed the choice of Benue voters in the 2019 polls.
He once more returned all the glory and praise to God Almighty for giving him the opportunity to lead the state for another term.
Governor Ortom also deeply appreciated the leadership and members of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the state, as well as other Benue people for the support given to him.
He specially commended his Legal Team for its outstanding performance at the Tribunal and the Court of Appeal.
The Governor stressed that the task of building the state is the responsibility of all its people. He therefore restated his call on the candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC for the 2019 governorship election, Barrister Emmanuel Jime and other contestants in the last election to join hands with him to develop Benue State.
Governor Ortom emphasized the willingness of his administration to collaborate with sons and daughters of the state irrespective of political differences, ethnicity, religion and place of origin, for a greater Benue.
In its reactions, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Benue State Chapter hailed the victory of the state’s governor, Samuel Ortom, at the Court of Appeal in Abuja this morning.
The PDP in a statement signed by Publicity Secretary, Bemgba Iortyom, said it viewed this decision of the court as an affirmation of the decision which was taken by the people of Benue State at the 2019 polls handing a second term of office to Gov. Ortom.
“In affirming this popular decision of the people the Appellate court has boosted citizens confidence in its integrity as truly a temple of justice.
“It is the faith of PDP that Gov. Samuel Ortom will justify the confidence reposed in him by the second term given him by the people through delivery of good governance and enhanced life quality.
“The party urges Benue people to continue to support the governor in prayers and in other ways for it to succeed in the best interests of the state” the statement reads in parts.
Also the Honourable Special Adviser, Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Elder Jerome Tor Shimbe, has hailed the appeal court victory of the Governor of Benue State, His Excellency Dr. Samuel Ortom and the Peoples Democratic Party-PDP, describing the victory as another seal to the mandate given to Governor Samuel Ortom by God through the overwhelming majority of the good people of the State in the last Governorship as well as supplementary elections in the State.
Elder Tor Shimbe who stated this today in a congratulatory message to the Governor on the victory, described the judiciary as the last hope of the common man and urged those who serve in the temple of Justice to always uphold the truth for the betterment of Society.
He averred that with this latest victory, the Governor was better placed to continue to implement the development oriented policies and programs contained in the administration’s Blue Print ” Our Collective Vision for a greater Benue ” and admonished the opposition to seek for viable ventures that will benefit them and their dependants rather than resort to unnecessary distraction of the Governor, while assuring the Governor of his unflinching loyalty and support to his administration and sued for sustained prayers for the Governor and his government to succeed.
The General Manager /Chief Executive Officer of the Benue State Urban Development Board, Makurdi ,Apostle Dr Saint Gbilekaa Abrahams, has also commended the Appeal Court for upholding the Benue Election Petition Tribunal, which affirmed the victory of Governor Samuel Ortom, in the March 9 and 23, 2019 governorship election.
Dr Gbilekaa who gave this commendation in Makurdi the State capital also lauded the petitioners for using the judicial window prescribed by the constitution in seeking redress for their grievances, adding that the judgment has put a judicial seal on the mandate freely given to Governor Ortom by the Benue People.
Gbilekaa said the verdict of the Appellate Court was victory for the rule of law, democracy and the good people of Benue State, adding that the Appeal Court verdict has exonerated the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.
He further said the electoral Umpire had earlier declared Governor Ortom and the PDP, winner of the Governorship Election in line with the mandate unreservedly and willingly given by the good people of the State.
Gbilekaa who also commended the Judiciary for being consistent at upholding the wishes of the people maintained that it is now glaring that the judiciary is the last hope of a common man.
The General Manager further commended the APC Governorship candidate Barr. Emmanuel Jime for availing himself of the Country’s Legal and judicial system and enjoined Jime and his party, the APC to accept the Appeal court decision in good faith and team up with Governor Ortom on the task of re-engineering the state ,fixing the economy, creation of jobs, tackling insecurity and corruption for a prosperous Benue.
Gbilekaa similarly urged Governor Ortom to continue to trust in God and remain resolute and committed in discharging his duties as Benue number one citizen without any fear or favour.
He declared that the elucidation of the Appeal Court ruling in the APC petition was an affirmation of God’s will and that of the people of Benue State.
He concluded that the Appeal Court verdict had reiterated that the onus of proof must necessarily fall on those that challenge the votes and mandate of the people.
Also the Honourable Member representing Ado, Okpokwu, Ogbadibo Federal Constituency and Chairman Narcotic Drugs Committee, Dr Francis Ottah Agbo has congratulated Governor Samuel Ortom and the PDP on today’s verdict of the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, which upheld their victory. Hon Agbo who is called the Moving Train by his admirers called on the APC not to appeal the judgement.
He averred that the APC appeal was dead on arrival and commended the Honourable Justices for dismissing the APC appeal.
A statement signed by his Media Assistant, Comrade Samson Otokpa urged the APC Guber candidate, Barr. Emmanuel Jime to join hands with the Defender of the Benue Valley to move the state forward.
Hon Ottah Agbo who is also the Spokesman of the Minority Caucus in the Green Chamber, noted that the victory of Governor Ortom and the PDP at the Court of Appeal is an affirmation of the will of the people and the will of God.
In his own reactions, members, House of Representatives representing Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency, Hon. Mzondu Benjamin Bem, on behalf of his family, political associates and the entire people his constituency, congratulated the Executive Governor of Benue state H.E Samuel Ortom over his resounding victory at the Appeal Court Abuja earlier today (28/11/2019).
Mzondu held that the victory of the peoples minded Governor at the Appeal Court was a clear manifestation of the will of God and a confirmation of Benue peoples choice as demonstrated at the polls through overwhelming votes in his favour.
The Lawmaker also congratulated the entire PDP family in Benue state, the entire good people of the state and the legal team for displaying the highest level of professionalism right from the Tribunal to the Appeal Court.
Hon. Mzondu called on Hon. Barr. Emmanuel Jime and the entire opposition to collapse all political boundaries, bury their grievances and join hands with the Governor so as to work harmoniously for peace and development of the state.
In a related development, the Benue Youth Forum, BYF, Thursdays urged Mr. Emmanuel Jime of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to end the legal tussle and congratulate the Governor Samuel Ortom on his victory at the 2019 governorship election in Benue State.
The Youth group made this known through it’s president, Comrade Terrence Kuanum, in Abuja, while reacting to the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, which dismissed Jime’s petition against Governor Ortom of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Mr Kuanum said Mr Kuanum said rather than distract Governor Ortom with unnecessary court cases, it was time for the parties irrespective of political divide to embrace each other and in one accord move the state forward.
According to him, “It is time for Benue to move forward, so we advise that all issues pertaining the governorship election in the state should be rested in the collective interest of our people.
“With the verdict of the appellate court, we advise Mr Jime to congratulate Governor Ortom and by so doing usher the state on the pedestal of peace and sustained developmental strides as being witnessed presently.
“And since the development of the state should be a collective and patriotic endeavour we appeal to the APC candidate to be patriotic enough to end the legal tussle and join hands with the governor and the rest of us to develop the state.
“We are aware of his constitutional rights to further appeal ruling of the appellate court at the apex court but we heartily advise, please end the tussle and let the healing process begin,” Kuanum added.
