Rotary Clubs lauds Ortom’s passion for peace

The Rotary Club International, District 9125 has acknowledged the peaceful disposition and conflict resolution mechanism of the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, saying his passion for peace is in line with one of the cardinal objectives of the Rotary Club.
District Governor of the Rotary Club International District 9125, Dr. Victor Onukwugha stated this yesterday at the Benue Peoples House Makurdi during a courtesy call on the Governor.
He promised to use his position to attract global grant to the state through the club, stressing that what was needed was to carry out a needs assessment before other necessary processes would follow.
Governor Samuel Ortom acknowledged the enormous contributions of the Rotary Club International to the development of the society, saying the activities of the club complement government efforts.
The Governor noted that the club had also been instrumental to the eradication of polio in the state and country in general, pointing out that from statistics available, Nigeria would soon be declared polio free.
While pledging the support of government and people of the State to the activities of the club, Governor Ortom said as a member, he would support the club with renewed vigour for the achievement of set goals.
President of the Rotary Club International Makurdi Bay, Arch. Asema Achado said the club had donated working tools to the Benue State Environmental Sanitation Agency, BENSESA, said the plans were on to provide water at the IBB Square Makurdi for the benefit of those who use the facility for events or exercise.
He commended the wife of the Governor, Dr. Mrs. Eunice Ortom, who is also a member of the club for her exploits through her NGO, Eunice Spring of Life Foundation, ESLF, stressing that she was doing well in moulding and saving lives.
