Orubibi Vs Suswam: Orubibi contracts Justice Maurice to induce Tribunal members
By Titus Apine, Nigerian Concord Correspondent, Makurdi
Nigerian Concord Newspaper has exclusively and reliably gathered that the former APC Zone A senatorial candidate in Benue state, Ms. Mimi Orubibi, has contracted her lover and backbone in the Judiciary, Hon. Justice Maurice I, on a mission to help her induce or blackmail members of the Election Petition Tribunal members who are presently sitting on the election case between her and her major challenger who defeated her under the platform of PDP, Senator (Dr) Gabriel Torwua Suswam.
Honourable Justice Maurice I. who hails from Kwande where Mimi Orubibi also comes from Is a judge of the Federal High Court in Makurdi, Benue state.
This fresh revelation is coming barely a day after Orubibi’s $20,000 bribe to Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore, to blackmail Senator Suswam, Justice R. Mohammed who is presiding over a pending case against him as well as the three members of the Election Petition Tribunal was unraveled.
Recall that the former APC candidate was last year relieved of her duties as chairman of the BRIS by Governor Samuel Ortom as a result of multiple financial misappropriations that took place under her leadership at the Benue tax agency.
According to investigation by our correspondent in Makurdi, Orubibi, apart from giving bribes in US Dollars to some bloggers in Lagos and Abuja to blackmail her targets has also be visiting judges in Lagos, Abuja and Benue state to help her prevail over the Tribunal members
Findings by Nigerian Concord also showed that she has been having meetings both in Benue state and Abuja with Justice Maurice I. of the Federal High Court, Makurdi who always assures her that members of the Tribunal will either be prevailed upon or blackmailed.
According to our reporter, another plan being made by Justice Maurice I. is to use a very influential Benue politician in the State House, Abuja to prevail over some top Justices of the Appeal Court in Abuja to change members of the Tribunal in Makurdi if they refuse to yield to Orubibi’s pleadings.
Justice Maurice I., it was learnt has been making fruitless efforts to meet with the Tribunal members over the pleadings of Mimi Orubibi in Makurdi.
Meanwhile, our reporters covering the Election Petition Tribunal in Makurdi confirmed that members of the Tribunal have condemned the false report on Sahara Reporters website which claimed that they had been bribed by Senator Suswam.
According to reports, members of the Tribunal wondered why anyone would go to the media to put such lies on their heads even for the fact that they have never met Gabriel Suswam or any representative from him or the PDP privately since they resumed the election petitions duties in Benue.
It was also gathered that the Tribunal members have said that nothing will make them compromise the Oaths they took while taking the job, either by taking side with any candidate or taking bribe from any of the parties that are involved.
