Sam Omatseye is working for the N15m bribe he took from APC to assassinate Ortom’s characters

It is sad that Benue people are brooding over all the baseless media attacks which Sam Omatseye, Chairman, Editorial Board of The Nation Newspaper, has been launching on Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state without bothering to find out the reasons behind the attacks.

Two things led to the media attacks according to a top member of the same Editorial Board of The Nation Newspapers.

The source within The Nation Newspaper confirmed that, in the build up to the March 9 governorship poll in Benue state, Sam Omatseye approached a top member of the Ortom-led administration to demand a sum of N25m so he could help the governor to assassinate the characters of Emmanuel Jime and Senator Akume but the aide quickly told Sam that Governor Ortom doesn’t like the act of assassinating peoples’ characters all because of politics.

The aide further told Omatseye that Governor Ortom would never agree to engage anyone to blackmail his opponents for any purpose, and that led to his (Omatseye) desperation, and he promised to get the governor’s attention at all cost.

Our source inside The Nation continued that it was when Omatseye could not get the attention he wanted from Ortom that he reached Emmanuel Jime through Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila (Jime’s former colleagues at the House of Reps), and a deal to assassinate Ortom’s character was struck.

Omatseye asked for a fee of N25m and he was paid an advance payment of N15m in five tranches. He will get the N10m balance as he progresses in the deal to assassinate the governor’s characters.

Omatseye isn’t alone in this deal. He has brought in the Benue state correspondent of The Nation newspaper whom he gave a sum of N250, 000 last week. Sam also gave N300, 000 each to three other members of the Editorial Board who are to back him while deciding the editorial policy of the newspaper.

If Sam Omatseye claims that this isn’t true, let him publish his GTB and UBA bank statements from March 26 to April 5, 2019. These are the bank accounts where the N15m were deposited on five occasions.
