The College of Education, Katsina Ala will continue to witness calamities without much progress and development if plans being made by the governor of Benue state, Mr.. Samuel Ortom, to appoint Mr. John Orze Kor, another corrupt man, as the Provost of the institution, succeed.
Investigations by Nigerian Concord showed that the governor has decided not to follow due processes required for making such appointment .
The governor, despite advice from his aides, has made up his mind to announce the appointment of John Orze Kor as the College Provost tomorrow, Wednesday.
It would be recalled that during the reign of former governor Gabriel Suswam, he followed due processes by advertising and as well conducting interviews for all the shortlisted candidates before he finally settled for professor Mathias Mder who was suspended in March.
It was gathered that the governor connived with his SSG, Professor Tony Ijohor, in order to ensure that his own stooge is appointed to head the institution.
Findings showed that the governor has hurriedly settled for John Kor without following due processes when it became clear that the federal government will soon take over the affairs of the institution.
According to information, it was Jack Mulya who introduced John Orze Kor to the governor when the search to appoint someone that will do the state government’s bidding in the College became intensive.
Jack Mulya who is being accused of hijacking every appointment, employment , government contracts and others in the Sankera Axis was formerly a member of the PDP.
Mulya decamped to the APC on the same day with a former speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon. David Mzenda Iho, and he was immediately appointed on the Board of the BIPC.
Despite that there are competent and qualified lecturers in the College who can be made Provost, Ortom, according to information, has settled for John Orze Kor, a man who had been accused of several criminal acts in the past, to head the institution.
Recall that John Orze Kor was the adviser to the suspended provost who later made him the Dean of Students Affairs of the College. He was part of the administration who ran the school down. He was also promoted as a senior lecturer fraudulently.
This man (Kor) had also been accused of sexual harassment, bribery and exam scandals in the past but he was covered by the suspended provost.
In 2016, he was reported six times by six different female students that he harassed sexually.
He was reported to the governing board of the school that he threatened that all the six female students would not graduate from the school if they didn’t allow him have sexual intercourse with them.
He was also accused of selling examination questions to several students but all these allegations were brushed aside by the suspended provost.
According to findings, John Orze Kor doesn’t have any quality to be the provost of the College but he ran to Jack Mulya who succeeded in convincing Governor Ortom and SSG Ijohor to consider his appointment.
Opinion leaders who spoke with Nigerian Concord wondered why the governor has failed to announce the vacancy, gather names, shortlist candidates and then conduct interviews for them before announcing the most qualified person like former Governor Suswam did during his days.
They also wondered why the governor has single-handedly imposed John Orze Kor who doesn’t even have a PhD on several qualified persons as the Provost of the College.
However, students of the College who spoke with this newspaper on the development have vowed to go on rampage if the governor fails to follow due processes before appointing a substantive provost for them.
They also threatened to cause mayhem if the corrupt John Orze Kor is announced as the new provost tomorrow.
